Electric toothbrushes and braces: a practical guide

Braces create narrow surfaces and small spaces where food debris can collect more easily. An electric toothbrush and a targeted water jet can make the daily routine more convenient, but good technique and choosing the right head matter more than applying strong pressure.

Why do braces need extra attention?

Around brackets, wires and fittings, the bristles need to approach the tooth surface from several directions. The interdental spaces and gumline still need cleaning too. Work slowly in sections and allow extra time for the harder-to-reach areas.

What does the water jet add?

A narrow, controllable water jet can help flush food debris from between orthodontic components and the teeth. On the MYBRUSSSH ONE 2-in-1 head, water exits between the bristles, allowing brushing and targeted rinsing with the same head. The separate oral-irrigator nozzle is useful when you only want to guide the water jet along the teeth.

Suggested sequence

  1. Lean over the sink and start the device at a comfortable setting.
  2. Hold the brush head at a slight angle above and then below each bracket.
  3. Move from tooth to tooth, pausing briefly around each fitting.
  4. Guide the water jet along the interdental spaces and gumline.
  5. Continue to use any interdental tool recommended by your orthodontist.

What should you watch for?

  • Do not try to speed up cleaning by applying strong pressure.
  • Use a gentler mode after a recent adjustment or when sensitive.
  • Do not direct a strong jet at a painful or injured area.
  • Rinse the head regularly and replace it when the bristles spread.
  • Follow the personalised instructions of your orthodontic professional.

Three heads, one compact device

The 2-in-1 brush head is for the daily combined routine, the separate oral-irrigator nozzle is for targeted water-jet cleaning, and the precision head is for focused local use. The removable water tank and cordless design keep these functions in one bathroom device.

Important: this is general-use information, not a dental diagnosis. If you wear braces, your orthodontist's instructions take priority.
